What's New With BARGE
This page is designed to track what's new and happening with the
BARGE community. Come to this page periodically to see what's going
on with BARGE and to learn how to participate.
As of the origin of this page, less than half of BARGE 2010 attendees
are subscribed to the BARGE mailing list. This page is designed as
a conduit to provide information on what's going on with BARGE for
those who wish to remain involved but who choose not to subscribe to
the list. Checking up once a week or so will probably suffice to keep
folks up to date.
- 01/30/12 EMBARGO 2012 is over! We
had about 75 people attend again. Once again, it was a blast!
Thanks to Kathy and her team at the Venetian for being great hosts.
- 10/01/11 The BARGE election
is over. Congratulations to re-elected board member Patti Beadles,
and to newly elected board member Kevin "Un".
- 08/13/11
Election season for BARGE 2011 board nominations is now open.
The bulk of the campaigning will take place on the BARGE list.
- 08/07/11
BARGE 2011 is over! See you at EMBARGO 2012!
- 07/22/11
BARGE 2011 registration is now closed. See you at Binion's!
- 07/16/11
This year's BARGE banquet speaker will be Mori Eskandani!
- 07/16/11
BARGE registration will close on Thursday, July 21.
- 06/20/11
BARGE registration is now open.
- 04/07/11
The venue for the BARGE banquet and symposium has been set. These
events will also be at Binion's again this year.
- 03/26/11.
The preliminary BARGE 2011 schedule is available
for inspection. The dates are in stone,
the tournaments are pretty much set. The banquet and symposium details
are still TBD. More details as they become available.
- 03/06/11 The "What's New" page is created.
Check back here for what's new with BARGE.
- 03/01/11 Anyone who is interested in
changing around BARGE tournament structures
should be submitting suggestions NOW. Once we lock down the venue for
BARGE 2011, we'll also be locking down tournament structures with our
host casino, because the structure will affect our tournament fees.
While we're willing to talk structures at any time, structures for
BARGE 2011 will be cast in stone on about April 1, and at about that
time we'll be busy gearing up for registration. With the current
two-event Las Vegas schedule, the best time to talk structures is in
October, February, and March.
- 02/14/11 Since EMBARGO is the new home of
the World Chowaha Championship, we thought it would be a good idea to
create a page
tracking this prestigious event. There
are many gaps in the recorded history, so if you've attended this
event in the past, let us know if you have any recollections or
information that the page lacks.
- 02/09/11 BARGE, Inc. received official notice
from the IRS that our application for tax-exempt status under 501(c)(7)
of the revenue code has been accepted. Kudos to everyone who helped
make that happen. Along with incorporation and our first election,
this marks the third and final major milestone in the incorporation
of BARGE.
- 01/30/11 The first EMBARGO is over! We
had about 75 people attend. We're going to try to make this an annual
event.
- 01/20/11 We've assembled a
set of game rules for the EMBARGO Dealer's Choice
tournament, however, this set of rules may be useful in other
contexts, so we'll keep it around and probably add to it over time.
- 12/18/10 We've written up a document
titled BARGE Survival Guide. It's
designed to be a general overview of BARGE for relative newbies, but
even seasoned vets may find something interesting in it, or at least
they might find it amusing. Feel free to make suggestions.
