In 2000 Jeff B. won the BARGE NLHE tournment (180? entrants) held at Binion's Horseshoe with John Reed taking second and Steve Blackstock taking 3rd. This year we had the honor of having the World Champion and RPGer Chris Furgeson play in the NLHE tourney and talk at our Banquet. The top 18 players were paid. Jeff Okamoto kept track of hands during the final table.
Two new tournaments were added in 2000. Neither the Video Poker nor the Blackjack tournament were held in 2000.
Less then two weeks after RGPer and BARGE participant Spencer "Zorak" Sun won the Tournament of Champions BARGE held a TOC-like tournament. The structure for this tournament consisted of Hold 'em, Stud (high), and Omaha high/low split 8 or better played until down to the final table at which NLHE was played. The winner of the inaugural BARGE TOC event was Tony "Karma" Goldstein. Peter "foldem" Secor took second and Jeff Siegel took third. The top 11 players were paid. Jeff Okamoto kept track of hands at the final table.
The second was a tournament intended to play some of the historical games of poker. The structure for the inaugural History of Poker tournament consistend of 5 card stud, 5 card draw high, and 5 card draw lowball played in rotation. After the early rounds 5 card stud was removed and the other games were played no limit. In the final rounds only lowball was played. Michael Hunter, Stephen Landrum, and Bill Chen chopped this event 3 ways. The top 9 players were paid.
The chips distributed in 2000 were designed by Ken Kubey.
